Andrew Ward

Andrew Ward – Principle and co-founder Regen Farmers Mutual - RFM

“Creating credible, verifiable and valuable environmental transactions – where farmers retain maximum value”

·      RFM as a farmer-owned mutual enables farmers (small and large) to aggregate their market power to better engage in Environmental Goods & Services (EG&S) markets.

·      It creates a mechanism to attract private sector capital to invest in credible and appropriately structured transactions.

·      As a farmer-owned business, the mutual is focused on creating the digital infrastructure, transaction processes and governance structures that enable farmers to optimise EG&S outcomes.

·      RFM has a focus on enabling farmers to layer up their EG&S assets – carbon offsets  (standing and soil), biodiversity offsets  (corridors – remnant veg management), water quality etc

Andrew has a background in agriculture and assisting startup companies. There are huge opportunities out there in the EG&S markets for farmers. The trick is to choose the right pathway – the company or broker that gets the best outcome for the farmer/landholder. RFM is a farmer owned mutual whose focus is on getting the best deal for the farmer through lower transaction costs and more tailored transactions to attract potential buyers of EG&S offsets.

Southern Queensland Landscapes – SQL - is a community owned organisation dedicated to connecting and supporting our communities to take care of their landscapes. They attract investment, innovate, trial and develop approaches to assist people, industries and communities to improve their landscapes. They:

  • Help land managers find ways to ensure profitable, sustainable and ethical food and fibre production whilst taking care of our waterways, biodiversity and soil.

  • Partner with land managers, First Peoples, governments, industry, academia, Landcare and community groups to learn more about our landscapes and share this knowledge.

  • Find opportunities for land managers, First Peoples, communities and industries to improve their economic, social and environmental outlooks.

SQL could be a pivotal partner with RFM to assist in the assessment of environmental assets through mapping, satellite data and on ground confirmation.
