Community Development for Everyone in the Traprock Region...

The Traprock Group invites everyone (members and non members) within the Traprock Region to a Community Development Day facilitated by Professor Geoff Cockfield of University of Southern Qld.

We need everyone's ideas, suggestions and experience, to develop a plan for a prosperous future for the Traprock Region.

9.00amRegistration, meet and greet. Cup of tea and pikelets.

10.00amIntroduction – Bim Goodrich

  • Why do we live in the Traprock (as per list from previous meeting)

  • Impediments to successful business in the Traprock

  • Young people willing but unable to take on properties/business in the region

  • Overview of possible solutions to this problem

  • Water as the key

  • Purpose of the day (ie develop the framework for a plan for a more sustainable future for the region)

  • Introduce Guest Speakers

  • Sam Fessey, Sandy Batterham and Tim Carnell to briefly outline their operations

11.00amIdeas for increasing Community Sustainability –Geoff Cockfield, Justin Heaven

  • Geoff will talk about his role in developing sustainable communities through work at USQ

  • Geoff/Justin facilitate session to gather ideas from the floor for business opportunities in the region 

12.30pmLunch – ICPA

  • Opportunity to meet and talk to Local, State and (hopefully) Federal political representatives and Government Officers

2.00pm   Natural Resources Committee focus – Duncan Ferrier

  • Work done so far by the Natural Resources Committee to gain access to water allocations

  • What does the committee plan to do next

2.30pmThe Plan – Geoff Cockfield

  • Geoff to talk about the development of the plan, what would be in it, what it would be used for etc

  • Facilitated session to gather ideas from the floor as to what should be in the plan

  • Where to from here

4.15pmDrone Demo – Geoff Elliot

  • Close - Refreshments


Cost is $20 for non financial members to cover catering and refreshments including a social hour afterward. Pay on the day.
